Europäisches Solidaritätskorps (ESK) Entsendeorganisation

Der AWO Landesverband Bremen e.V. entsendet junge Menschen mit dem Europäischen Solidaritätskorps (ESK) in’s Ausland!

Du wolltest schon immer länger im Ausland leben und dich in einem Projekt engagieren, um deinen Horizont zu erweitern? Dann bist du beim ESK genau richtig! Du hast die Möglichkeit, ein Jahr einen Freiwilligendienst in unterschiedlichsten Einrichtungen in einem europäischen Land zu machen und wir unterstützen dich dabei!

Du hast bereits ein Projekt gefunden, bei dem du gerne deinen Freiwilligendienst absolvieren willst? Dann komme auf uns zu und wir unterstützen dich als Entsendeorganisation bei der Vorbereitung und Ausreise. Wir bereiten dich mit einem Seminar auf deinen Freiwilligendienst vor und stehen dir im Vorfeld bei Visumsangelegenheiten und Fragen rund um den ESK und dein Auslandsjahr zur Seite.
Wenn du noch kein Projekt gefunden hast, kannst du trotzdem gerne auf uns zukommen, wir versuchen dann mit dir gemeinsam ein passendes Projekt im Ausland zu finden!

International volunteering programs

The AWO Landesverband Bremen e.V. is an approved central organization of voluntary welfare. Our aim is to establish sustainable social politics that add to the prevention of and the fight against social exclusion. In the light of the organization's historical background as part of the working class movement the lived values of solidarity, tolerance, freedom, equality and justice provide the basis for our actions.

Our objectives for the European Solidarity Corps programme are to provide the opportunity for young adults - irrespective of their financial situation, their religion, their gender or generally their origin – in Europe to have a learning experience that enforces their intercultural competences and democratic understanding during their longterm voluntary stay.

The general Conditions for the European Solidarity Corps are:

  • Duration: 05.10.2026 – 30.09.2027
  • Pocket Money: € 510,00 per month
  • Add ons: German Language Course, Ticket for Local Public Transportation
  • A room in a shared flat with one other ESC volunteer is provided

You have the opportunity to take part in one of the following volunteering activities, according to your interests and profile:

Nachbarschaftshaus Helene Kaisen (na‘) Bremen (Community Center)

The neighbourhood center „Nachbarschaftshaus“ is located in a lively neighbourhood in the city of Bremen. It has a long history of social and cultural integration and is characerized by a diverse offer of activities, consulting services and other marginalized groups. Its claim is to be a contact point for eyeryone, regardless of a person’s background.

Your Profile:

  • Social awareness: Openness toward people from diverse backgrounds and those facing disadvantages
  • Flexibility and openness toward new cultures and work environments
  • Team player: You enjoy working with others and you are willing to collaborate
  • Interest in other cultures: Curiousity about other cultures and languages

Your Tasks:

  • Assistance with the planning, preparation, and follow-up of events, as well as their execution
  • Greeting visitors, users, and groups at the center
  • You choose a focus area that you would like to work on throughout the year and that relates to your personal interests or experiences
  • Create a project or several small projects related to this focus area

AWO Youth Centre Burglesum and AWO Youth House Vegesack, Bremen

The AWO Youth Center Burglesum is an important point of contact for young people from the Burglesum district and beyond. There are great social inequalities in the surrounding districts of Burgdamm, Lesum and Grambke, and the young people who come to us are very diverse in terms of age, families of origin and educational background.
The focus of our work is leisure-time educational offers as well as intercultural work and integration work during the so called “open door”. In this context there are gender-specific offers, sports and exercise offers, music and creative offers as well as trips and excursions. The participation of the visitors in the planning and development of these offers is important to us.
Most of the work takes place in the afternoons and evenings.

Your Tasks:

  • Development, organization and implementation of leisure activities, holiday programs, excursions and trips
  • Sale of drinks and snacks in our "café"
  • Help with schoolwork
  • Office activities (design notices, copying, etc.)
  • Activities in and around the house (tidying up, disinfecting, shopping, minor renovation work, etc.)

AWO Youth Department Coordination Office

The Youth Department at AWO Bremen is responsible for eight youth leisure facilities and three residential groups. With a total of 100 full-time colleagues, we care for and accompany young people between the ages of 10-21 at various locations in Bremen. All organisational threads come together in the coordination office at the head office. From here, we apply for funds, do administration and networking and provide professional guidance to the directors of the facilities.

The ESC volunteers mainly operate in the filed of international exchange.

Your Profile:

  • You are committed and want to bring young people from Europe together, regardless of their level of education and experience.

Your Tasks:

Guided by the professional staff you will support us in

  • Developing, organising and running workshops with young people and professionals to brainstorm ideas and prepare international youth encounters
  • Supporting the search for cooperation partners
  • Preparing and accompanying exchange programmes
  • Office work (designing notices, Instagram, copying, etc.)

AWO Home for Minor Refugees „Haus Hopa“

Since 2023, the facility „Haus Hopa“ offers 15 places for young refugees in a modern and homely atmosphere. All the young people have their own rooms – they cook and eat together, with the support of the housekeeper and the educational staff. In addition to organising everyday life together and providing support with daily challenges, our professionals organise leisure activities, excursions and opportunities for participation for the residents. Our goal is to promote their independence.

  • You are committed and want to contribute your interests and ideas to the development of leisure activities

  • Support with daily activities

AWO Girls*Club „Lilas Pause“

The girls*' meeting place Lilas Pause is the only open meeting place just for girls* in the north of Bremen and an important contact point for girls* aged 10-21 from the Vegesack district and beyond. The young girls* who come to us are very diverse in terms of age, families of origin and educational background.

We write girls* with * to make it clear that we really mean ALL girls*, regardless of religion, nationality or sexual orientation. Girls* with and without disabilities are also very welcome.

The main focus of our work is on recreational activities as well as intercultural and integration work during the open house.
